How does one 'build gradio locally'?

Im on an intel mac os12.6.2 so may be doomed but the direction given to upload a source video is to run: python app.py # humans mode
However in mac terminal this results in: zsh: command not found: python
So do I just not have what's needed or is mac terminal the wrong place for that command?
